iamu

Tom and I are together so much that we occasionally worry we are becoming variants of each other. I’m sometimes concerned that our respective appearances might compound the iamu effect. Neither of us have much hair, nor are we particularly tall. Both of us favour spectacles with heavy rims, have similar accents, are the same age, and we both often wear the same kinds of boots, outdoor jackets . . .

. . . and sometimes knitwear too.

I’ve designed Kilbrannan Sound for wearers of any gender, with square-r proportions and roomier upper arms. The pattern also has two ranges, altering the proportions and dimensions of sleeves and body.

Whether you like your pullovers close fitting or with lots of ease, in a longer or more cropped length, after measuring an existing garment and consulting the pattern’s sizing table, it should be possible to achieve a fit that works.

The pullover I showed you on me yesterday is knitted in the first size, with four inches positive ease, in the smaller range. Tom’s is knitted in third size, similarly with four inches of ease, in the longer range.

Tom wanted his Kilbrannan Sound in darker grey. He choose our Ooskit yarn, in the natural Horkel shade.

The raglan shaping works well around squarer shoulders.

. . . and this longer length is great as well.

Obviously, our roles have been reversed for this occasion. For once, I am behind the camera, giving direction.

While he’s hamming it up out front.

Ours is an equal partnership: together, we can turn our hands to anything. But it’s probably best that we avoid wearing our Kilbrannan Sounds out and about at the same time.
