Tom is beginning to feel better, so we took a leisurely stroll around Roslin Glen earlier today. Yes, this is the same Roslin (or Rosslyn) that is home to the chapel. Dogs and visitor centres do not mix well, so we didn’t take in the interior, but if you are in the area then I heartily recommend a visit – it is just as staggering as you might imagine. (You can have a peek at a few of the most famous carvings here).
It was a chilly and dull-ish sort of a day, but there were still some welcome signs of Spring. . .
. . . and the woods were full of the scent of wild garlic.
We found ancient walls
Bruce enjoyed a splash in the Esk.
But he was not over-keen on my new hidey-hole.
We are both glad that Tom is improving. An actual, solid meal for him tonight!
How lovely to hear that Tom is getting a bit better. I never feel quite right if my partner-in-crime’s health is off, and I find that my empathy quotient has gone WAY up since becoming sick myself. And on a similar topic (as my dog is sick, and one sick empathizing leads to another…), I’ve been loving your Bruce posts lately. What a dear.

glad to hear Tom is on the mend. my mam had a perforated appendix about 15 years ago (I was in Shetland at the time!), and still has a scar to prove it.
anyway, just saw this and thought of you: Weds 21 March RCAHMS seminar ‘Working Place and Social Space: The Lives of the Scots Herring Girls 1900-1950’ Dr Jill de Fresnes, Skills for the Future Project Manager, RCAHMS

I’m glad to hear Tom is feeling better. I want to thank you for this particular post. My Husband and I are going to be in Scotland for a few days towards the end of June and we were wondering, besides St. Andrews, what there was to see and do in the Edinburgh area. A visit to Rosslyn Chapel will be spectacular. I clicked on your links and am now very excited to visit this beautiful and remarkable chapel.

Mmm wild garlic! We visited Roslyn Chapel around the time they were just beginning to build the centre – I wonder how much it’s changed. Missing the smell of spring wild garlic in the woods… Thank you for a peek!

We have had a boring winter of little snow in the Twin Cities. The crocus and garlic are wonderful but I’m hoping we get the big storm on Tues/Wed. Winter needs snow!
Oh-I swatch for Boreal tonight!

Very pleased that Tom is on the mend now. What a fascinating place I had not heard of it before. The carvings are fascinating you get a glimpse of how life was for people all those years ago… Bruce certainly appreciates history I think he would like to visit a lot of other ancient places too….

Glad to hear that Tom is feeling better! I love your photographs, especially the one of the lichen. No signs of spring here. We just had 6 inches of snow. However, the sunshine is bright and cheery. I’m just starting to turn the border on rams and yowes. I found myself a 60 inch #2 needle and am feeling my sanity is restored. I was working around the border using 6 24 inch #2s and poking myself as I turned the blanket (-;

Happy to hear Tom is doing better. I thought I was the only one who hid behind (or in) trees so my labs could find me (which they always do of course). I love your pictures. Here in Colorado, we have had snow on the ground since November and I am ready for some spring flowers!!
