Today we launch our brand new yarn – Ooskit 4 ply!

Like Ooskit DK, this yarn is worsted-spun for us in Yorkshire from top-quality local fleeces.

To create this silvery grey shade, BFL and Masham fleeces have been expertly blended together to create a lovely, woolly, sheepy yarn.

Appropriately, the shade name is “siller”

At 220 metres to a 50g skein Ooskit 4 ply has a fabulous airy, springy hand combined with superb stitch definition. This makes it a great choice for shawls . . .

. . . like our Beamer pattern.

Kate designed Beamer a few years ago (for the Inkling collection) and it’s one of our all-time favourite shawls.

Featuring straightforward lace and top-down triangular shapes . . .

. . . it is a pattern in which Ooskit 4 ply makes the lace motif look really crisp . . .

. . . whilst also creating a fabric with a lovely drape and cosiness.

We thought club members might appreciate a wee treat, so we’ve added the Beamer pattern to your Ravelry libraries today.

This is not one of your regularly-scheduled club bonuses, but just a little additional something we thought you might enjoy.

This week is a particularly busy one for our Knitting Wester Ross club members: Along with our new yarn and Beamer, we also have our scheduled pattern release today – and a club bonus on Saturday – both which feature Ooskit 4-ply.

Ooskit 4 ply is now available to everyone in the KDD shop, where we also have Beamer kits in this new colourway…
We hope you love Ooskit 4 ply as much as we do. Keep a look out for our new club patterns today and tomorrow featuring this lovely new yarn.

No wonder Kate is ill. We know how much she invests of herself in all of these projects! Please tell her to take her time recovering. Remember slow and steady wins the race. I for one wouldn’t care if there was a pause in the Wester Ross club, or anything else Kate is working on, as long as she takes care of herself.
Beautiful yarn. Im looking forward to knitting with it some day.
Dear Kate,
I’m sorry to hear that you are not well and I hope that you haven’t been overdoing things.
The patterns are all very beautiful and I thank you for delivering them to me over the past months. It has been a real pleasure to see them in my inbox through this gloomy winter.
I wish you a speedy recovery and thank you for all your hard work.

I can’t believe all the super duper and fantastic patterns from this club. I am SO happy I joined for the 1st time! The essays and info has led me to research and look up so many things about the Wester Ross and the highlands in general. The images Tom sends up are SOO inspiring. We love nature photography! Please take care of yourselves and those puppies!
