Hello! How are you? I really have been very sick but seem at long last to have turned a corner. Look – I can actually walk – and talk – again – how exciting!

And although you can’t hear me, I can assure you that, while traversing this beach, I was able to issue commands to this pair of errant hounds to prevent them from investigating a nearby picnic in a voice which, although not quite at pre-Covid strength, is kind of getting there.

All of which is to say that we’ve finally been able to reschedule last month’s cancelled webinar for this Saturday, October 4th. My apologies and heartfelt thanks to those of you who have kindly borne with me while I’ve been recovering (Covid honestly is no joke). And if you find yourself at a loose end this Saturday at 5pm, there are just a few spots left if you’d like to join me, live from the mill, to discuss all things “Fearless Colourwork.“

    I am so glad to hear you are feeling better, Kate! Covid is no joke. I am going to get my booster shot this week so I can hopefully avoid the latest iteration. I am not able to join the webinar, but recently finished some fearless colourwork arm warmers — self drafted designs to include bats and dragons for one friend, and foxes and magpies for another (these are both friends in Kyiv, and I was able to hand-deliver them while I was in Ukraine volunteering). Now I am working on some single-color textured pieces, and just finished the yoke for a cozy jumper.


    Please continue to take good care and recuperate! Thank you for putting beautiful creations into the world!

    So glad to hear you are recovering and well on the way to health. You might not have all your voice back yet, but you can climb even half-way up a hill, so you are clearly doing well. Woohoo! And long may it continue!

    On another note – I’ve been wearing my version of your Possit the past week. First time I’ve needed a jumper, last Monday (22nd Sept). First time I’ve worn it. It’s lovely, gained compliments. Just wish I could remember where I left the gauge swatch cos I was going to use it as a pocket! Ah

      BOB and Bran are fearless winter swimmers and have no coats apart from their own. They enjoy snuggling on a cosy sheepskin by the fire after a swim though.

    ifeel for you. 18 months ago I had a really nasty fungal ear infection and burst ear drum which affected one ear and the eye.on that side. It left me with loss of hearing and balance and problems focussing. I am just finishing the summer cardigan and am still struggling particularly tinnitus and adjacent eye and told not to drive. ENT says all in my head cannot find a reason butat least seeing and knitting again in-between various appointments with audiologist and opticians you are an inspiration to me. Thanks

      take care Jacqueline – I know how debilitating tinnitus and balance issues can be – very frustrating to not be taken seriously. Hopefully you’ll be back in the driving seat soon.

    So glad you are recovering Kate. You are right, Covid is no fun at all. It made me ill for 6 weeks and I think it exacerbated a heart condition that was just developing. Make sure you are not taking on too much as you start working again to give yourself more recovery time than you think you need.

I loved seeing the beach photos and I was reading your email while sitting at the Sandwich Boardwalk, here in Sandwich, Massachusetts, before going to the office. What a way to start my work week – pictures from your part of the world, and watching the outgoing tide, and a beefy Great Blue Heron searching the marsh for a meal.     Dear kate, I am so happy to hear of your recovery, if not quite complete than hopefully very much on the road to it! I am also glad that although it was a terrible journey you at least, in the end, have some strong immunity going forward. I am sad I can’t make the event on Saturday, family working farm plans keep me away, but will enjoy the replay very much I know!

    The cold weather is coming even here in California,(a bit early this year) so bundle up and stay warm and happy!

    So glad you’re feeling better. I hear the current strain is stressing a lot of people’s resilience. I not best pleased that the government has raked back on the vaccination programme this year.

    Looking forward to Saturday and the next knit along (although I’ve still not finished my Tonnach…and then there’s Traig which I bought to knit for this September weekend, but it’s still in the bag…

    Happy Monday and have a healthy October ahead this week. Scary how time goes in.
