Hello, friends, it’s BOB here, the Very Good Boy who lives with Tom and Kate.

You may recognise me from my recent appearance as the model for Choc Ice (aka the Ultimate Dog Jumper, or UDJ), or as the originator of BSCAD (the BOB scale of Chaos, Anarchy and Disaster). Well, today I am here to introduce you to another acronym, BITFTD, which stands for BOB’s Important Thought for the Day.

Today’s BITFTD is coming to you straight from the BEACH and it is: to make sure you make the most of FOAM.
I shall explain. There are many good things about the BEACH, but one of the best (and most interesting) is that it is a place that is different every day. What I mean by this is that while the BEACH remains itself, and is essentially the same place (of course), it always contains different things. For example, some times the waves are high and wild and good for leaping, while at other times the water is replaced by sand, which is good for running and for rootling. One day there is an otter, the next day there is not. Such is life on the beach.

With its ten thousand things and their continual transformations, the beach is a very fun place to be, but on days after a storm it is particularly so. On such days I have encountered many surprises, including a gigantic bank of seaweed, several feet high, half a sofa, part of a wall, and an actual message in a bottle.

Yesterday there was a storm and today’s surprise was the very best surprise of all – for it was FOAM!

What is FOAM? Well, like snow, FOAM is neither solid or liquid . . .

. . . and you can jump and play in it, although it does not melt.

FOAM is glorious, bouncy, frothy stuff. It tastes good, just like the sea . . .

. . . FOAM rises in high drifts and it wobbles in the wind . . .
. . . FOAM is good for leaping, for rolling, and for creating the very best kind of fun and mess.

But like many transient beach things, one day FOAM is here and the very next day it is gone.

so make sure you make the most of FOAM, my friends!

over and out, love BOB.

Oh what a wonderful post and your pups are so awesome!
This made me smile
Lovely post with gorgeous photos and the two most adorable dogs!
So nice🌹🌹
I too have a ‘very good boy Bob’ now 18 and still finding the moments of joy. Magical post thank you.
This is pure joy! Thank you for the smiles!
Bob (and Bran too), I am a tiny bit jealous! I want to romp in the loveliness of FOAM too!! I want to try balancing a bit of foam on my nose while I run. I’m pretty sure I could do it! And I’m pretty sure you could show me how, if I have trouble.
Ah, Bob you make me laugh.
Wow, I have never seen foam like that. what a a hoot, I loved it but then i didn’t have to wash the doggers after LOL
wonderful, enchanting :)
Thank you. I needed this today and it was lovely. Your dogs are wonderful to see. I will definitely reach out to you for suggestions of places to visit in Scotland hopefully in 2025.
Best to you,
Priscilla
Glorious! Bob has life sorted. Be like Bob everyone!!!!
(and big thank you to Kate for helping to bring Bob’s thoughts to us all).
Oh Bob, I love it when you visit us! You would love The Oregon coast. It’s wild sometimes especially after storms. The Pacific Ocean can be loud, raucous and full of surprises🤩. I love the ocean and when I had my shelties, we would run, leap and chase the waves. Alas, as I now in my mid seventies, my shelties long gone, you have reminded me what a gift the ocean is to all of us. Thanks Bob❤️🫶🫶
Oh Bob l Love You! (and your coat!) you remind me so much of my dog now only here in spirit, I hope you have another foamy fun day soon – and a good bath after!
Thanks for the FOAM video. A lovely start to my day.
There will be piles of sand turning up all over the place for days 😂
Foam as thick as this is not fun for everyone. 4 years ago at Zandvoort in the Netherlands 5 surfers died after a getting in meters high foam. They got disoriented and drowned. Like Bob’s foam it was a combination of algae and high winds.
And a day later it was gone.
oh my – how awful
BOB, I’m desperate to know what the bathing situation is at your place! However do you get clean?!
the sea giveth, the sea cleaneth away
Oh BOB, you do know how to have a romp! That is some properly jiggly entertaining stuff!
Carpe diem, Bob! Or even carpe foam
>
thanks Bob … you made laugh out loud! :)
Love love love BOB! More BOB! (I don’t have a dog sadly, so appreciate him even more!)
