Bunnahabhain is such a beautiful single malt that I can understand it being Tom’s happy place.

I loved Islay when I visited on a whistle stop tour. I will go back to do more bird watching and walking one day. Lovely photos as always.

  7. Tom, you captured some real showstoppers! What did you have to do to get that delightful shot of the cow? That orange haze is something else.

    Just stunning.

  12. WAOUH !! Magnifiques photos !!! Merci Kate and Tom! I remember pretty well your lovely wedding pictures and your wonderful book about the place … we went there (Islay and Jura) in June 2015 ;-)

  13. It’s good to see you are taking some time for yourselves, Kate. The photo of Tom’s happy place… it is interesting to note how our brain’s expectations colour a photograph… one expects a deckchair to be deckchair-sized, so Tom looks dwarfed sitting in that one!

Wonderful photos – I’m on my holidays in St Monans in the east neuk as always. My favourite holiday thing is a new KDD project – this is the place where I first encountered your work (thanks to the lovely Woolly Brew in Pittenweem) and I can’t tell you how much it has become part of my life. Starting with a blaithin and now on a muted powder mill, I love that a summer knit carries salt water and sometimes sun cream into winter garments. Since 2015, my holiday knitting is often done wearing my jokull knitting poncho. Another chance to say thank you to you all.

    1. You are so right about summer knits, Mhairi!

Wow! Such a beautiful place, and captured so spectacularly. Well done Tom! Thanks for sharing it with us all.

  16. Je n’ai jamais oublié mon voyage sur cette île. Seule et mon sac à dos! J’avais 60 ans! J’en ai maintenant 71 et toutes vos photos me donnent l’envie irrésistible d’y retourner!

Il faut y aller avec le sac a dos!
