It has been something of a hectic week here. Tom and I have had our heads down completing our new book, which, all being well, will go to the printers next week. The title we’ve settled on is Shetland Oo: Wool, Textiles Work, and those of you who were keen on the idea of a hardback book will be pleased to hear we’re ordering a split edition (i.e., some hardback, some paperback) so that your preferred option will be available. Both Tom and I are really proud of the finished book, and are very grateful to all our Shetland friends who have supported the project, and have made it what it is. You can sign up for our newsletter to be the first to hear when the book is available (direct link in sidebar opposite ———>) and you’ll be hearing much more about the book and those involved over the coming days and weeks. In the meantime, we’ve been able to take some time out from the book, and watch others sprinting to the finish in a rather different way. The UCI Track cycling world cup is currently on in Glasgow, and, thanks to my mum and dad (who are visiting this weekend) we’ve been able to watch some amazing athletes competing in some very exciting events, which you can read more about here.
Here are some of Tom’s photographs from yesterday evening’s session.
Men’s team pursuit (British & Chinese teams)
Men’s sprint semi-finals.
The men’s sprint final was fought out in three nail-biting heats between Kamil Kuczynski of Poland and Russia’s Pavel Yakushevsky. . .
. . . Kuczynski came from behind to win.
British women’s team going for gold in the thrilling team pursuit final!
Hope you are all having a great weekend, however you are spending it!
