Well – we shipped all the Seven Skeins Club packages, and they are now starting to arrive all over the world. Parcels of yarn were landing in Denmark and Germany by the middle of last week, and there were sightings yesterday in Illinois and Texas. If you are waiting for a package yours should not be far behind.

Friends in my Ravelry group have set up this fantastic map through which its been exciting to track the parcels. As and when your Seven Skeins package arrives (or if it has already done so), please do feel free to add your pin to the map so we can see you! And if you aren’t already part of my Ravelry group, there is a thread set up especially for Seven Skeins Club chat, and there will be further threads for discussion of the patterns, when they start to appear, so please pop along there and join your knitting comrades. Its been so lovely to see photos of the yarn arriving, and hear your reactions (I am especially pleased you are enjoying Buachaille’s colours, and its sheepiness)!

If you are a Seven Skeins club member, some preliminary welcome information will go out to you on Tuesday, 13th October . This information will be delivered by email, to the email address associated with your order, and will be sent using MailChimp. Please double check your inbox settings, as well as any “promotions” or spam folders (in case the message is fired off there) and if you haven’t received your message by Thursday, please get in touch with us (infoATkatedaviesdesigns.com) so we can iron out any glitches. The first pattern will be delivered on Friday, 16th October, and then you can really start to enjoy your yarn!

As we are in the final stages of pattern / book preparation, things are incredibly busy here, as you might imagine, and any photographs I have are of things I cannot yet show you. But I will leave you with a wee video clip that friends of Bruce will enjoy. On the morning of our wedding, Tom and I went for a walk around the woods and beaches near Port Ellen with Bruce. In the woods we found a buoy hanging from a tree – an object which Bruce found extremely exciting. The quality of the video is a bit rubbish, as it was taken with my phone, but it still makes me laugh every time I see it. I think he would have happily played with that buoy all day.

  1. I received my Seven Skeins package last Wednesday in NY! It’s BEAUTIFUL. This weekend I started to make all the skeins into balls and started on the baffies. The yarn is so beautiful, Kate. Love the colours and the natural ones too. Love the feel, so soft and wooly. And love the fact that they smell like sheep! They knit lovely too. Very pretty. I’m so happy I decided to join this fun club… Congrats on your yarn and on all the love and work you all put into this project. I see skeins of Buchaille in my knitting future… The only thing I miss is Knitsonik’s tune as a soundtrack. You should include that for future memberships :) Saw her on Instagram. Hilarious! Please tell Felix she’s a genius. We want the full version of that song!

  8. Dear Kate,
thanks for the beautiful Buachaille parcel that arrived on saturday in Germany. Love the sheepy wool and even the clear and bright colors. I’m very excited and look for the first pattern to come on october 16th – my birthday!
By the way, the video of Bruce and the buoy is hilarious – my husband and me kept laughing for a long time and watched the video again and again … Bruce is such a good boy!
    Best wishes to you all

  9. It’s a little confusing on the website because it says you are not taking memberships anymore for 2015, but it also says you are sending out a discount code in a week for those who are subscribed to the newsletter. So I am unclear whether one can still join this Seven Skeins Club or not. Is there a limit on memberships because you can only fill so many orders? Are you taking more memberships in 2016? Since I am subscribed to the newsletter should I expect to receive a discount code to apply to 2016 membership? Please clarify.

  17. Everything about this post made me smile — except for Bruce, who made me laugh out loud! I hope *someone* has hung up a buoy/jolly ball *somewhere* near home for dear Bruce by now. His tail was wagging as fast as the ball was sailing!!

I’m in the USA, so waiting (im)patiently until Tuesday. At least we waiters have a Bruce video to entertain us until our yarn arrives. Thanks!

  18. Will we still be able to do the Seven Skeins Club at a later point or was this a one time deal? It looks really fun, but is a bit out of my price range at this point!

    1. Hi Karen – yes, all the patterns will be available to buy – both as a collection and individually – though they will be exclusive to the club until January.

  19. Bet that buoy is there as a swing for some kids—a great idea I would say. I am sure my yarn we be the last to arrive out in my remote location—which is fine with me as all good things take a bit of time! I am thrilled to see the photos and hear everyone’s comments. I can not wait to see the patterns. Thank you to everyone that has helped to put this all together!

  23. Dear Kate,

I was hoping to receive a 10% discount code for the 7 skeins club and it hasn’t come through. Please could you send me one? I felt sure I had joined the newsletter club a while ago and then had to sign up again, because it wasn’t coming through.

I hope that I can still join 7 skeins and it isn’t too late. Thank you in advance. Btw I love your designs.

    Kind regards,

    Sheena

  24. Bruce’s enjoyment of the ball reminds me of the game “tether ball” that we would play in elementary school. It is quite similar except you try to wrap the ball which is on a line around a pole. The more wraps the more points. All good fun (unless you got smacked by the ball on your head)!

  25. Hi Kate,
Well obviously you know now what to buy Bruce for Christmas! (watching it I was reminded of a littel bird toy that used to hang down from a door frame for my elderly indoors cat…it used to chirp when pawed and in the end she clouted it about so hard she broke it….)
