These are my wonderful new raised beds. Soon they will be filled with a muthaload of topsoil and compost, and shortly afterwards will be home to my vegetables. The layout and space means that I and my wonky leg will have no problem getting around and managing the beds, and I took this photograph from inside my lovely new potting shed / mini greenhouse which I’ll show you once its all finished and painted up. I’m really excited to get my plants in. That is all! Enjoy your tuesday!

Firstly, I look at your homestead and feel at home. The raised beds are very helpful and orderly. My parents were from Aberdeen and I have a great desire to go back.
Secondly, I bought your Yokes book from She Ewe Knit at the Frolic show in Toronto – fantastic. I have begun the Frost at Midnight selection and will be contacting Toft for yarn for the Epistrophy sweater.
Lastly, thank you for every single aspect of your artistry in design, photography and writing, to say nothing of your intellectual approach to the arts.
What a beautiful gardening area with great raised beds! My DH and I are building raised beds, too, and this weekend… up goes the hoop house. I am so excited for both of us! Can’t wait to get all the seedlings planted ~ What fun!
Beautiful. I am so envious. Even if I didn’t have a garden almost completely in the shade, we’re not frost-free here until the Victoria Day holiday (next weekend), so our growing season is miserably short. Really, you make me want to move to Scotland!

Wow, that’s absolutely marvelous, pretty and practical. Just one question, are the shorter boxes just that, shorter, or is there a more specific purpose? Oh, almost forgot, you need a knitting chair out by your veggie garden so you can enjoy the best of both worlds, knitting and gardening!

What Potential!! You will love them. My husband built me three raised beds 15 years ago, and my favorite thing is taking a cuppa into the garden in the spring/summer morning and sitting on the edge of the wooden bed, enjoying the sounds, smells and growing plants. I wish you much joy with your Potential!

Raised beds are so nice! I’m very excited to try straw bale gardening this year. My bales are all conditioned and ready for planting as soon as the weather cooperates (freezes are still possible in May in Minnesota).

We’re doing several kinds of ‘new to us’ garden ideas this year, including raised beds and hay bales. We did ten hay bales (in Northern Indiana) and literally, everything that we have planted in them is THRIVING. Hope you enjoy it as well.

We have raised garden beds too. And they have been awesome. Enjoy planting and tending and eating from them.
Oh I can taste them now, fresh, lovely tomatoes, sweet carrots, fresh peas and beans. Enjoy the process, and the fruits of your labour.

I am so glad you took these pictures and posted them. I’ve been trying to tell my Hubbo that this kind of set-up would be perfect. I like the taller and wider than usual (at least it looks like it ) framing. I appears wide enough to sit on if need be. After years of Arthritis (age 9/now 55) and having my first total hip replacement when I was 22, then popped up the other side @ the other when I was 35. By the time the first replacement hip had logged in an impressive 18 yrs, it needed to been redone. So now,having something to sit on if need be is very welcome in my garden. I really like your Bi-level boxes. Not to be pushy (well yes actually), what kind of lovely plants are you going to nurture? Oh, just a reminder…Tula, our toy poodle, is insisting I remind you NOT to Forget the POTATOES for Bruce !
