A beautiful Autumn day — we went walking in the Ochils.

We began here at Castle Campbell. . .

. . . and then ascended into the hills and pootled around all day — up and down, from top to top, following the grassy rollercoaster up toward Ben Cleuch . . .

. . . we admired the view of the snow-capped Lawers range . . .

. . . came back down into the valley near Tillicoultry. . .

. . . and enjoyed the fading light as we walked back to Dollar along the Devon way.

It is very nice to get out into the hills again.
In other news, craft has been occurring here! More soon.

  3. I am a seasoned Scottish hillwalker and I love knitting. As I am now challenged in engaging in either activity by two little children and living and working full time in London, I get so much vicarious pleasure from reading your blog. The memories this post evoked of days visiting my granny in Tillicoultry and clambering in the Ochils finally prompted me to let you know how much I appreciate your writings.Thank you!

We did Ben Cleuch in the summer! Went up from Tillicoultry, so it was veeeeeery steep! Your way sounds much more sensible. Will have to check out Castle Campbell – don’t think I’ve been there!

  5. How blissful to walk in such open spaces, the air looks crisp and I am sure quite refreshing. If you would like to get a taste of something warmer I took photos of my trip to the Getty Villa (in Southern California), our climate is still warm, although we did get some nice rain today. Thank you for sharing your wonderful walk.

  6. That grassy rollercoaster looks like something created by Charles Jencks rather than nature. Went to his Garden of Cosmic Speculation some years ago on an open day and it has remained firmly fixed, as has that other great Scottish garden Little Sparta, in my mind.
