Kate loves designing beautiful knitwear, with a distinctive aesthetic that’s often inspired by her twin loves of the Scottish landscape and textile history. She prides herself on producing patterns that are clear, easy to follow, and a genuine joy for knitters of all abilities to create.

Kate’s portfolio includes scarves and haps (simple shawls), colourful mittens and hats (knit using the Fair Isle technique), and jumpers and cardigans which combine simple details with classic shapes. She is particularly fond of designing yoked sweaters and tams and loves the knitterly geometry of circles.

Kate’s adult garment patterns are carefully graded to fit an extensive size range (usually 30 to 52 inches) and, if there is an unusual technique involved (such as steeking), you’ll find help from one of her tutorials.

Kate’s designs are exclusive to her company, and she no longer works on external design commissions for other yarn / knitwear businesses, or for magazines.

The designs featured below are a selection of Kate’s favourite pieces.  Many of her patterns are available in kit form from her shop, some are available as part of a collection in her beautifully printed books, and all patterns are available to purchase digitally as instant downloads from herRavelry store.
