Winners!

Well, we won! Tom and I travelled down to London yesterday and last night at the QEII centre in Westminster were awarded the title of Microbusiness of the Year, 2016! Here I am with two Tims receiving my award: on the right is Tim Lazenby, head of FSB insurance (who sponsored the award), and on the left is Tim Campbell, founder of the Bright Ideas Trust (who compered the evening brilliantly). If I look a wee bit shell-shocked, that’s because I was.

We had a wonderful time, meeting some really interesting and inspiring people, and celebrating the UK’s many innovative small businesses such as Fisherton Mill (family business of the year), Dr Beynon’s Bug Farm (Start-Up of the year) and the 918 coffee company (who won the best overall business of the year award for their pioneering work developing zero-waste technology).

The evening was very thought-provoking, and I’m sure I’ll have more to say about it later, but for now I just wanted to share the news, say a big thankyou to the FSB and Worldpay for the award, and another massive thanks to all of you for your support.

Well, I’m off to relax and knit, while Tom investigates the ins and outs of having the words MICROBUSINESS OF THE YEAR emblazoned loudly on our van.

love to you all
